For ten years, Selective Line has published our yearly Stylebook, anticipating international trends in design and glass packaging. By combining new sociocultural habits with decorations and new bottle shapes, our Stylebook reimagines traditional glass packaging and aims to inspire our customer and partners’ future creations.
In 2022, art will take center stage amongst our new trends. Its aesthetic and therapeutic functions reconcile a longing for elegance with environmental concerns. We have identified two trends for 2022: “Pavane” summons the art of cultivating elegance, while “Happening” evokes the art of raising awareness.
To acknowledge each trend, new standard bottle shapes have been designed while Saga Décor (France) and Verallia Polska (Poland) have imagined new standard bottle shapes, along with fresh inspirations and decoration techniques.
As part of Bloom Gin’s brand repositioning, Verallia UK supported the creation of a bespoke bottle combining elegance and distinction. Designed by the agency Stranger & Stranger, this glass bottle strengthens the brand’s premium identity while helping it stand out in a highly competitive market. It is a successful illustration of the key role glass packaging design plays in the evolution and enhancement of brands.
Crafted by Verallia UK in collaboration with designer David Jenkins, the Hepple Gin bottle draws inspiration from the wild landscapes of Northumberland. Its sculptural design features a custom embossing that evokes the rippling texture of a juniper tree trunk, elegantly wrapping around the bottle’s angular facets. Lightweighted by 100 g compared with its previous version and incorporating 52% recycled glass, this creation combines aesthetics, innovation, and sustainability. Recognized at the Pentawards, it perfectly showcases Verallia’s glassmaking expertise.
Inspired by the island of Fedje and its community, this creation stands out through a design rich in symbolism. The 521 embossed lines represent the island’s inhabitants, while 750 dots pay tribute to the distillery’s investors at the time of its founding. A true storytelling medium, this bottle combines brand identity, distinctive design, and eco-design principles. Its excellence has been recognized with several international awards, including a Silver Award at the Pentawards and the UK Packaging Award for Branding Project of the Year.
